Today I watched Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse. I really liked the first Spiderverse film and had been really excited about that when it came out so I was really excited for this one too. I was Not disappointed, the animation of this film is incredible. I loved it, it was stunning, I was amazed basically as soon as it began. Every moment in Gwen's world is just fantastic, I adore the style of it. I love Pavitr's world, Hobie's animation, the renaissance villain from the beginning, just all of it. I might talk about the story later, at the moment I can't really put into words what I think about it, I'm an artist my brain is stuck on the animation and visual art of the film.

I finally got around to watching The Shape of Water. This is one I've been meaning to watch for years, but I'm bad at watching movies in any timely manner. I love that Elisa is a mute character, characters mute or d/Deaf aren't that common and usually I have to watch movies completely in ASL to see characters who use sign, so it's always nice to see more of these characters. It's nice that she has people who care about her and are able to understand ASL to communicate with her

Elisa seeing herself in the amphibian man is really interesting, and quite relatable, feeling so alone amongst other people that it's easy to see yourself in the nonhuman. Their relationship is truly sweet.

The scene where the amphibian man eats the cat I did find a bit upsetting, I'm such a baby when it comes to animal death lmao.
